چکیده

Abstract Background The complex including entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) of the genera Steinernema and Heterorhabditis their mutualistic partner, i.e., Xenorhabdus Photorhabdus bacteria, respectively possesses many attributes ideal biological control agents against numerous insect pests as a third partner. Despite authenic opportunities for practical use biocontrol globally, they are challenged by major impediments especially cost reliability. Main body This review article presents EPNs to familiarize growers stakeholders with careful application. As relatively high EPN costs frequently low efficacy still hindering them from reaching broader biopesticide markets, this is latest findings on strain/species enhancement, improvement production, formulation application technology, achieving insects standpoint facing these challenges. conditions practices that affected integrated pest management (IPM) identified. Besides, efforts have been made address such in various ways grasp effective approaches, identify research priority areas, allow refined techniques. Additionally, sampling factors responsible obtaining more isolates differential pathogenicity better adaptation specific pest(s) discussed. Conclusion Specific improvements formulation, technology reviewed which may help use. Other diverse optimize constitute cost-effective, value-added approach IPM also demonstrated.

What are you focusing on at the moment? I am still carrying on with my research into the molecular mechanisms of memory, currently focusing on the link between CaMKII and AMPA receptors during memory consolidation. But two years ago, funded by the BBSRC, we embarked on an exciting new project, investigating the link between decision-making and learning in Lymnaea. This project uses much less mo...

Further Screening of Entomopathogenic Fungi and Nematodes as Control Agents for Drosophila suzukii

Drosophila suzukii populations remain low in the UK. To date, there have been no reports of widespread damage. Previous research demonstrated that various species of entomopathogenic fungi and nematodes could potentially suppress D. suzukii population development under laboratory trials. However, none of the given species was concluded to be specifically efficient in suppressing D. suzukii. The...

Challenges and Opportunities for the Commercialization of Postharvest Biocontrol

The past twenty years has seen the field of postharvest biocontrol evolve into a sophisticated science with global research programs worldwide, numerous yearly publications, patented technologies, and the development of new commercial products. The use of these products, however, still remains limited. The practical application of postharvest biocontrol has changed from a very classical view of...
